About the Role:
We’re looking for a technical writer or a product documentation person who embodies both the “technical” and “writer” aspects of the job. The ideal candidate is passionate about communicating what the product is capable of by crafting comprehensive, accurate, approachable content for users, administrators, and developers.
You enjoy digging into what your audience needs to know to succeed and write content that clearly illustrates the "why" and not just the "how." You must thrive on working collaboratively with SMEs and other writers to develop phenomenal global level technical content.
Responsibilities:
- Understand the Exxat products in depth and with hands-on experience to produce intuitive user guides or online help to enable the customers to get the most out of the products
- Produce best-in-class config guides that become the go-to bible for anyone who wants to configure or set up the Exxat products; and onboard the customers
- Produce troubleshooting guides that enable the support team to debug issues and fix it without needing to contact a product manager or engineering expert
- Create innovative ways of content consumption like short videos; FAQ documents, context-sensitive inline help content, etc. that can enable the customers, partners, and employees learn and use Exxat products better
- Deliver release notes with every release and keep the rest of the documents up to date
- Collaborate with product managers in India, product innovation & SMEs from US and engineering teams in India to learn and create quality content
- Review & approve grammar of ‘Validation/confirmation messages/announcements/menu names etc
- Plan the schedule of documentation updates by understanding the business needs
- Set up best practices for documentation along with identification of the right tools as required to produce quality documentation
- Assist in producing other forms of product documents like training content
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in language, literature, English etc is a plus.
Required Skills:
- 4-10 years of experience in producing documentation for a technical audience
- Experience in technical writing, product documentation, or online help guides
- Passionate about acting as a user and knowing technical products in depth to create good quality content
- Flexible, agile, and detail-oriented crisp writer who loves procedural writing, structured guides, with clean screenshots
- Progressive writer with R&D; mindset who loves experimenting with newer mechanisms of content creation and distribution like videos, short videos, in-app guides, etc.
- Excellent communication skills; collaboration skills and the Writer’s mindset
