Job Duties & responsibilities
- Develop good understanding of retail products, internal processes and customer journeys
- Provide practical legal advice to business and support units to ensure that legal issues are identified and resolved, and that legal risk is adequately managed
- Support Legal data privacy and data protection related initiatives within the Bank Provide day-to-day legal support in the form of advisory to the retail product teams and support legal documentation.
- Responsible for providing guidance on handling customers complaints, vetting response to complaints to senior management, responding to notices from regulators/ authorities, vetting legal notices and managing litigation.
- Review product notes and adhere to the legal risk management policies of the Bank at all times and any prescribed legal standards.
- Identify and highlight legal risks appropriately while providing mitigating solutions.
- Staying abreast with industry practices relevant to the retail banking products and adopt newer methods in improve delivery of legal services
- Liaise with consultants/law firms and advocates.
Requirements
- Good knowledge of banking laws, RBI guidelines, and banking practices.
- Must have advised on banking products and services
- Demonstrated history around drafting and negotiations
- Ability to analyse and effectively communicate
- Customer focussed
- Law graduate with at least 6 years of PQE in retail/consumer banking
