As the Sr Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and execution of the vision for enabling solutions on Data Platform,
products and services. As a thought leader, you will establish guidance on how to use and implement platform features in compliance with enterprise standards. As a senior engineering leader, you will work with customers, other engineering teams and leaders - solving their use cases using technologies and solutions aligning to our Data strategy.
The engineering work is primarily done using cloud-based services like Azure, AWS, and GCP, and it is therefore essential that for our engineers to be successful, they should have had experience working on cloud-based services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Trusted partner of the technical leadership of an organization, typically at the Director level
- As a hands-on technical leader, split your time between coding, design, and architecture based on where the greatest impact (or in response to job requirements)
- Key influencer in planning strategy and bring in business and industry context to technology decisions that will help our Enterprise Data platform,
product and services
- Architecture should be exemplary in terms of efficiency, stability, extensibility, and the ability to evolve over time. Simplify processes and technologies
- Software is robust in the presence of failures, scalable, and cost-effective
- Coding practices are exemplary in terms of code organization, clarity, simplicity, error handling, and documentation
- Decompose complex problems into straightforward solutions
- Be flexible, adapting to meet the needs of the team, project, or product
- Solicit differing views and are willing to change your mind as you learn more
- Amplify impact by leading design reviews for complex software projects and/or critical features
- Probe assumptions, illuminate pitfalls,
and foster shared understanding
- Mentor software engineers
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- 10+ years of experience in building distributed systems with a focus on Big Data
- 6+ years of hands-on experience working on large scale Java or Python projects with specific focus on micro services and Big Data frameworks
- 5+ years of experience in working cloud environments - Azure, AWS, GCP with demonstrable proficiency in at least one platform (preferably Azure)
- 5+ years of experience designing large scale data intensive applications
- 2+ years of hands-on experience as a principal-level software engineer
- Experience in working with engineering leaders
- Good knowledge on cloud related infra, security and networking aspects
- Proven track record of leading application or platform security framework for large-scale, multi-cloud platforms
- Proven track record of leading the delivery of large-scale, high-quality systems
- Proven exceptional communication skills
- Proven excellent problem-solving skills
- Proven highly organized individual
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience using terraform and Github actions for IaC and CaC
- Any knowledge or working experience on AI/ML projects
