Chill Subs is a searchable database of over 4000 opportunities for writers that helps them get published. We also build useful tools that writers can utilize during their submission process (like submissions tracker, deadlines calendar, automatic prose formatter, etc) and provide affordable education through our workshops subscription.We started in January 2022 and have grown a lot since then and it's gotten hard to keep up with, that's why we need you!
Responsibilities
All the usual madness of a startup! One month you can be working on a redesign of some of our pages (so having Figma as your best friend) then the other month you'd be running a script to migrate data from the old fields to new fields after a schema update.
Other times you can be having a lot of fun figuring out why that page is slow and how you can make it faster.That's why ideally we're looking for someone with prior startup experience (a year and more) who knows and is comfortable with the pace of work and wearing a lot of hats.
Experience managing a team would be a plus too .My dream as a founder is to be able to step down from my full-time dev role and be able to focus on creativity and growing the business again. That requires someone I can confidently leave most of the dev processes with and know that the website is in good hands and won't explode:)
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience with React, Node.js, and MongoDB
- proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- familiarity with Typescript and Next.js (we use Pages Router)
- experience in API development, knowledge of database design and management
- ability to freely communicate in English
- experience with Docker and AWS (or cloud in general)
Nice to have:
- Experience with Prisma
