Key Responsibilities:

- Review medical records to identify all pertinent diagnoses and conditions, ensuring all HCC-relevant codes are captured.
- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM codes in compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
- Ensure coding meets CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) and other regulatory agency requirements.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and obtain additional information as necessary.
- Participate in coding audits and quality assurance activities to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, CMS regulations,





and industry best practices.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software efficiently.
- Participate in ongoing coding education and professional development.
- Communicate effectively with the billing department to ensure accurate claims submission and follow-up on any coding-related denials or rejections.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or similar credential.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, with a focus on HCC coding.
- Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and HCC coding practices.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficient in using EHR systems and coding software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
