We are seeking a dynamic and experienced CAD Lead/Manager to join our team.
This role will be instrumental in managing the infrastructure that supports our chip design workflows, including EDA licenses, LSF (Load Sharing Facility), hardware, software, and storage.
Job Description:
As a CAD Manager, you will oversee the design environment infrastructure, ensuring the efficient and seamless operation of all technical resources needed by the design and verification teams. You will manage and optimize Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tool licenses, hardware configurations, server operations, and ensure the availability of necessary tools and resources to facilitate chip design activities.
Key Responsibilities
EDA License Management:
Oversee procurement, deployment, and management of EDA licenses (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor, etc.).
Track and optimize license usage to ensure cost-efficiency and high availability.
Interface with EDA vendors for renewals, negotiations, and support.
LSF Management:
Maintain and optimize the LSF environment to support design tasks and simulation workloads.
Monitor workload distribution and ensure fair and efficient job scheduling.
Troubleshoot LSF-related issues and ensure high uptime for critical tasks.
Hardware & Server Management:
Manage and maintain design hardware including workstations, servers, and storage systems.
Monitor server performance and ensure minimal downtime through preventive maintenance.
Plan and oversee upgrades, scaling, and replacement of hardware resources.
Software & Tools:
Install, configure, and maintain EDA tools, design software, and related applications.
Ensure compatibility of tool versions with design workflows and facilitate necessary updates.
Create and maintain scripts for tool automation and environment setup.
Storage & Data Management:
Oversee data storage, ensuring high availability, performance, and security for design data.
Manage backup systems, data archiving, and disaster recovery protocols.
Work with IT to optimize storage solutions based on the team’s design and verification requirements.
User & Access Management:
Manage user accounts, group access, and permission setups for CAD tools, servers, and storage.
Ensure secure login mechanisms and implement role-based access controls (RBAC).
Support user issues related to tool access, performance, and environment setup.
Collaboration & Support:
Act as the primary liaison between the design teams, IT, and EDA vendors.
Provide ongoing support to design engineers for troubleshooting tool or infrastructure issues.
Document and establish best practices for the efficient use of CAD tools and resources.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
15+ years of experience in CAD/EDA management within the semiconductor or electronics industry.
Strong knowledge of EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor) and LSF.
Hands-on experience with server management, storage systems, and network infrastructure.
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Python, Shell) for automation tasks.
Familiarity with system administration tasks (Linux/Unix environment).
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with cloud-based EDA infrastructure management.
Familiarity with configuration management and CI/CD tools for EDA workflows.
Understanding of chip design and verification processes.
