Position Summary:
Mentor Together, India's first and largest youth mentoring non-profit organization, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Finance to oversee all financial operations. The Head of Finance will be instrumental in driving the financial strategy, ensuring compliance, and supporting the organization's mission to provide quality mentoring to underserved youth across India. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills, a deep understanding of non-profit financial management, and a commitment to social impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy and Planning:
Develop and implement financial strategies to support the organization’s mission and long-term goals.
Lead the annual budgeting process, including monthly and quarterly forecasting.
Provide financial analysis and reports to senior management and the board to inform decision-making.
Financial Management:
Oversee the preparation of financial statements in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements specific to non-profit organizations.
Manage cash flow, grants, and donations to ensure financial stability and accountability.
Oversight of Accounting Processes:
Oversee all accounting operations, including the implementation of best practices in bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all accounting processes and financial reporting.
Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.
Operational Finance:
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.
Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions to maintain optimal cash flow.
Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures tailored to non-profit operations.
Grant Management:
Oversee the financial aspects of grant applications, reporting, and compliance.
Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance & accounts team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Coordinate with program and development teams to provide financial insights and support.
Compliance and Governance:
Ensure compliance with all financial and income tax regulations and standards applicable to non-profit organizations.
Liaise with external auditors, donors, and regulatory authorities.
Maintain transparency and accountability in all financial dealings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CA, CPA) is preferred.
A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a non-profit organization.
In-depth knowledge of non-profit financial management, including grant accounting, fund accounting, and donor reporting.
Strong analytical, strategic planning, and organizational skills.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
