Do you have a tax background in financial services or a chartered accounting or law firm Do you have a knack for breaking down complex issues to reach clear and concise conclusions Are you able to interact with senior stakeholders and regulators

The role is for a Head of Tax, for India as a part of the Group Tax organization. Group Tax s core responsibility is to handle compliance work on corporate income tax affairs of UBS group entities.

The objective of the role holder is to ensure the Corporate Income-tax cost and risk in India is well managed and remains within the risk appetite of the Bank, to advise the business and other internal stakeholders on India tax matters and to improve tax outcomes in disputes,





litigations and otherwise, in a manner consistent with building long term shareholder value and maintaining our reputation as a responsible taxpayer with tax authorities and regulators.

The key responsibilities include:

Compliance

ensuring corporate income tax returns are prepared and timely filed for all relevant UBS group entities as required by local laws and regulations

handling the routine Corporate income-tax related compliances, including reviewing the advance tax computations and ensuring timely instructions for payment of taxes to Finance; responding to correspondence and notices from the tax authorities, in a timely and adequate manner, etc

handling all the Transfer Pricing compliances including submissions of annual TP certifications and maintenance of relevant TP documentation

handling local compliances relating to CbCR, Master File, FATCA and AEI reportings

internal sign offs for the tax numbers for the management books

overseeing Indirect tax compliances

handling vendor management and governance for our tax advisors

manage the Corporate Income-tax Holiday availability for the Group s captive

Advisory

managing all Tax (direct and indirect tax) and TP audits, including strategizing the responses, collating the relevant information and documents from various stakeholders and owners and reviewing the factual and technical arguments in support of UBS s contentions

managing the tax disputes and litigations and ensuring optimal result for UBS in India

advising on tax implications/requirements pertaining to any new proposal, initiative, transaction, approach, etc proposed by Business or other Group Functions

advising on relevant tax updates, changes in law, compliances, etc to relevant stakeholders

review and management the risk framework to mitigate any Permanent Establishment risks, typically due to Service PE, Dependent Agency PE, Fixed Place PE, etc.

You'll be the part of APAC group tax team reporting into the Head of Tax, APAC. In your role you would be expected to work closely and collaborate with the Group Finance team in India and APAC, you would be also working with Business and Group Functions stakeholders. You have:

substantial tax experience, including demonstrated success in a similar role at senior levels of a Tax function, preferably in the Financial Services Industry or in the Tax Function of a BIG 4 Consultancy Firm

strong knowledge of the stock broking and investment banking business

track record of sound risk judgments in a complex, global environment

excellent knowledge of international tax principles, an understanding of Financial Services products and captives taxation

strong knowledge of transfer pricing requirements

working knowledge of indirect tax laws such as GST and Service Tax

a pragmatic "can do" attitude

You are:

a Chartered Accountant with 10-12 years of post-qualification experience preferably with Big 4 or other foreign banks/brokers

a great communicator, you know how to speak with people at all levels

an expert at building networks and connections

conversant with MS Office

a team player Academic Pedigree Professional Accountancy or Taxation qualification, CPA equivalent
